What this AI visibility audit checks
Five groups, in the order they matter. A failure high on this list makes everything below it academic, which is why the report is read from the top rather than by score.
Can AI crawlers reach you at all
This is the gate everything else sits behind. A site can be flawless and still be invisible if a robots.txt rule or a CDN bot filter turns these crawlers away, and most sites that block one did not decide to.
What machines can read without guessing
These tell an engine what the page is and how it relates to the rest of the site. Without them a model infers, and inference is where outdated or borrowed descriptions come from.
Whether the page states its own answer
Models lift well-formed openings. A page whose answer arrives in the fifth paragraph gives them nothing convenient to quote, however good the fifth paragraph is.
The technical floor
None of these wins an answer on its own. Each of them can lose one, which is why they are worth clearing before anything more interesting is attempted.
How the page travels
Link previews and internal linking shape how the page is seen and reached elsewhere, and third-party connections are the signal models weigh most heavily when deciding who to name.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI visibility audit?
›
A check of whether AI search engines can reach your site, read it, and find something worth quoting. It covers three things in order: whether crawlers like GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are allowed in, whether the page states its own answer in a form a model can lift, and whether the machine-readable signals, schema, sitemap, llms.txt, are present. It is a readiness check, not a measure of how often you are currently named.
Is this AI visibility audit free?
›
Yes, and it needs no account. Enter a URL, the scan runs across the signals above and returns the findings in seconds. Nothing is stored to run it.
How is an AI visibility audit different from an SEO audit?
›
An SEO audit asks whether a page can rank in a list. This asks whether an AI engine can retrieve the page and quote it inside an answer. The two overlap on the technical floor, HTTPS, mobile, sitemaps, and diverge after that: AI crawler permissions, llms.txt and answer-shaped structure have no equivalent in a classic SEO report.
What does the audit not tell me?
›
Whether you are actually being named. An audit reads your site; it does not ask the engines anything. Finding out how often ChatGPT or Gemini mentions your brand, where in the answer, and which sources they cite means running a fixed prompt set against them on a schedule, which is a different exercise from this one.
How often should a site be re-audited?
›
After any change that touches the checks above, and otherwise quarterly. Crawler permissions in particular tend to regress quietly, because they are usually changed at the CDN by someone solving a different problem.
What should I fix first if the audit finds problems?
›
Crawler access, always. Everything else is optimisation inside a door that is either open or shut, and a blocked GPTBot makes the rest of the report academic. After that, the structured data and the page summary, since both are quick and both change what a model can say about you with confidence.
